Columbia, S.C. - June 12, 2008 - Gov. Mark Sanford today announced his family’s participation in the upcoming 17th Annual Floppin' Flounder 5K. The event, sponsored by the Sullivan's Island Fire and Rescue Department, will kick off the First Family’s Family Fitness Challenge, an annual series of events aimed at improving the health of South Carolinians by raising awareness of health and encouraging healthier decisions in their day-to-day lives. Each year, the family participates in or hosts a number of fitness events, with this year’s kickoff being the 5K on Sullivan’s Island to be held on June 14.
