Executive Orders
Columbia, S.C. – Governor McMaster will begin holding a series of roundtable style meetings with local business leaders across main street South Carolina to solicit and compile examples of regulations and red tape that make it unnecessarily difficult to do business in the State.
The series of meetings builds on the governor’s Executive Order 2017-09, which orders a transparent review of cabinet agency regulations that may harm business growth, by including the perspective of local main street business leaders from across the State.
“Future economic prosperity requires that we keep South Carolina globally competitive. Periodically, that means identifying regulations and red tape that hinder any business owners’ ability to invest, expand, hire and profit,” said Governor McMaster. “We need our local business leaders to provide examples of how the government is getting in their way, so we can provide them to the General Assembly.”
Each meeting will be co-hosted by a local Chamber of Commerce organization and roundtable participation limited to their local chamber membership.
“Regulation reform is one of the largest issues facing small business both in South Carolina and Nationwide,” said Ben Homeyer, South Carolina State Director of the NFIB. “The overbearing and burdensome cost of regulations can cripple a small business. Governor McMaster’s executive order is a great step in reform. His work, along with that of the General Assembly on this crucial issue is paramount for small business. And, there is no better way to learn about the issues facing small business than to talk face to face with the business owner. I thank Governor McMaster for speaking and meeting with small businesses across South Carolina to get to the root of our issues.”
The first meeting will be in Anderson, June 5 at 11:30 AM at the Hilton Garden Inn at 115 Destination Boulevard.
“We are excited to have Governor McMaster holding the kick-off to his Main Street Business Roundtable Meeting in Anderson to help strengthen the economic vitality of our Anderson County business community,” said John Wright, Jr., Commercial Realtor/Developer of McCoy Wright Realty, Inc. “We welcome the opportunity for Governor McMaster to meet with our business community to garner their input on how the State of South Carolina can best serve our business community’s needs and concerns. Collaborating together, we can achieve more and have a greater impact for Anderson County, our Region, and the State of South Carolina.”
“Regulations and laws have a great impact on our business community and their ability to do business effectively and efficiently. We welcome Governor McMaster’s reach out to our business community throughout Anderson County to look for ways that the State of South Carolina can help in reviewing the regulations that are imposed on our businesses that may impede their business. By removing these barriers, we will strengthen our business community which strengthens our citizens. Strengthening our business community and our economic vitality is at the heart and mission of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce and the State of South Carolina,” said Pamela Christopher, President & CEO of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.
