Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation Expanding Lexington County Facility

December 6, 2017

Columbia, S.C. – Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation (Nephron), a manufacturer of sterile inhalation and 503B outsourcing medications, today announced a $12.5 million expansion to add 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The new investment is expected to create 125 new jobs.

In October 2011, the company announced a $313 million facility would be constructed in West Columbia, and 600 employees would be hired by 2017. To date, Nephron has invested more than $320 million, and currently, 640 people are employed. After 20 years in Orlando, Fla., Nephron relocated its headquarters to South Carolina.

This expansion is a result of tremendous growth in both the Nephron 503B Outsourcing Division, and the existing respiratory therapy drug portfolio. The Outsourcing Division of Nephron is one of the fastest growing 503B facilities in America. 30 new products have been developed in 2017 in an effort to solve the nationwide drug shortage crisis.
